Biografia:
 Em 1998, um grupo de quatro jovens canadenses de Antigonish, Nova Escócia, decidiram formar uma banda séria. Para fazer isso, os irmãos Colin MacDonald (vocal principal e guitarra rítmica) e John-Angus MacDonald (guitarra solo e vocal de apoio), o primo deles, Sean Dalton (bateria) e o amigo de longa data Jack Syperek (baixo) se mudaram para uma casa em Niagara Falls, no Canadá, a fim de estarem mais perto das grandes cidades e ter um espaço para praticarem em sua própria casa. Em 2002, a Trews (o nome foi sugerido por um fã e é também a denominação de uma tradicional calça escocesa) ganhou o concurso anual Rock Search, promovido pela rádio FM 97.7 HTZ, da região sul de Ontário. Isso trouxe-lhes a atenção do cantor da banda Big Sugar, Gordon Johnson, que produziu o EP homônimo do grupo e o levou junto em turnê com a sua banda. Em 2003, com a Sony Music canadense, a Trews lançou seu primeiro álbum longo, "House Of Ill Fame".
