Biografia:

A banda de rock australiana Eskimo Joe foi formada em Fremantle, em 1997. O cantor e baixista Kavyen Temperly e o baterista Joel Quartermain, que já tinham colaborado com a banda Freud’s Pillow, recrutaram o guitarrista Stuart MacLeod para entrarem no Australian National Campus Band Competition e, após conquistarem a honra máxima na competição, ganharam um espaço na reunião anual do Livid Festival, bem como uma viagem para uma gravação em estúdio. A sessão rendeu o EP de estréia da banda, "Sweater", de 1998, que ocupou significativo posto nas paradas da influente rádio australiana Triple J, com a música do título. Um ano mais tarde, o grupo ressurgiu com outro EP, homônimo, que consagrou os hits "Ruby Wednesday" e "Turn Up Your Stereo".

Ao assinar com a filial da EMI Modular Records, a Eskimo Joe se uniu com o produtor Ed Buller para criar o seu primeiro disco longo, "Girl". Um Top 40 australiano, o álbum gerou os sucessos "Planet Earth" e "Who Sold Her Out". Seu disco seguinte, de 2004, "A Song Is A City", lançou o trio ao estrelato nacional. Impulsionado pelos Top 40 hits "From The Sea", "Smoke" e "Older Than You", o álbum alcançou o segundo lugar nas paradas. O terceiro álbum da banda, "Black Fingernails, Red Wine", estreou como número 1 em maio de 2006.
